Oneness

Well, I definitely wanted to kick-start my new blog entry with something thought-provoking, or perhaps even informative. However, my wife now has a bladder infection. And for all the married people out there, you know that when your wife has a bladder infection, you have a bladder infection.

So she (we) is going to the doctor, and she (we [again]) will get a prescription to help her out with the situation. After that, it's hunky dorey time in the Schafner home again.

That's the beauty about marriage though. You share the good times and the bad times. So, today, I will haul it over to the doctor, be supportive, and maybe wrack up enough brownie points to cash them in for some actual brownies (let's cross our fingers!). But also, when my wife has something good happen in her life (perhaps a raise of some sort), I get to haul it over to the bank to again, be supportive, and help her cash the check (you know, just in case her hand is hurting her that day or something). Ah, the beauty of marriage.

So, I'll leave you with this clunky cliche -- Take care of the bad times, but always remember the good. (Wow, awful, I know... My grandpa would be so proud of me right now.)

Do they still say "for better or worse" in the marriage ceremony?

A well written post, Josh. And good job on the ". . . or worse" part! :)

You know, now that you mention it ... I think I DID say something about "for better or for worse."

Wow, I should have thought that one through a little more. (Hah, just kidding.)

It's so funny that "for better or for worse" is such an easy concept at heart, but in practice so many people get it wrong.

Oh well, the beauty of it is this: if you get it wrong, you still have a lifetime together to get it right.
